Transport in Morbi

Morbi Bypass-Navalakhi Road

It is a fact that Morbi does not have any airport. The nearest airport is located at Rajkot, which is almost 70 Km from this city. What is more, even though Morbi has two railway stations, not many trains stop there. There is of course a third railway station at Wankara; but that too is around 27 Km from here. Therefore, if anybody wishes to visit Morbi, it is far easier to travel to Rajkot by air or rail and then take a road transport from there. As we have already mentioned, the distance between the two cities is around 70 Km. One can also come here via Ahmadabad; but that is located at a distance of around 190 Km from Morbi and therefore, one will have to spend more time travelling by road.

The two stations located in the vicinity of the town are known as Nazarbagh Railway Station (Station Code NZG) and Morvi Railway Station (Station Code MVI). While the former is located near Bhadiyad Road on the right bank of River Machchu, the later is located on Navlakhi Road on the left bank. Both these stations were built by the erstwhile rulers to facilitate transportation of  goods produced in the state. Till date most trains that pass through these stations are goods trains. Incidentally, the Morvi Railway Station is also a place of tourist interest. The architecture of the building combines both the European and Indian style of architecture.
